Artist’s Statement :

In her mixed media sculptures Kathy Taylor uses found objects to pose questions about aging, and notions of Englishness and class.

In the kinetic series, the sound is as important as the visual: the evocative clink of toothbrushes against glass or the rattle that the tea trolley makes as it crosses the threshold of the kitchen door. Small faltering movements, dances, gentle caresses, or subtle bullying amidst familiar objects, suggest both human frailties and the violence that may lurk within the daily rituals of domestic life.
